This course covers units which are essential to working with children. It gives students a greater awareness of current issues and prepares them for higher education or the world of work. Students will learn about the development of the brain, how children learn through play, the importance and role of adults and issues/problems which may hinder a child's development. This course involves a 50 hour work experience placement which will be carried out during school hours. This qualification can provide career opportunities in all areas of the child care sector for example teaching, pediatric nursing, education psychology, nursery nursing, social work and many more.

What you need to get on

At least 5 4-9 GCSE grades (or A*-C legacy GCSE grades) with a minimum of 4 or above in GCSE English, and 4 or above in GCSE Mathematics. It is prefered that you have studied this subject at GCSE but this is not compulsory.
