We look at organic chemistry, moving from relatively simple organic molecules such as alkanes to the structures which constitute the basis of living organisms, visiting petrochemicals and alcohols en route to amino acids and DNA.
What you need to get on
This course does not require any background in chemistry. All the topics will be explained from first principles. At the same time, the topics covered will also be of interest to those who have already studied some chemistry. Although we will build on concepts met in Parts 1 and 2 of the course, each part of the course is designed to be stand-alone so Parts 1 and 2 are not a prerequisite.Please check the City Lit website for details.
