Modern medicines are powerful substances which have beneficial effects for millions of people worldwide. However, inappropriate use or handling of these substances can have severe consequences, including death. Having good up-to-date knowledge of the safe handling of medicines is essential for anyone working with medication. Our Understanding the Safe Handling of Medication in Health and Social Care course is aimed to support those already working within the Health and Social Care sector. The course covers different types of medication and what they are used for, how to correctly store and dispose of medications in a safe way and how to administer medicines safely. You will also cover reviewing common side effects and monitoring post administering medication alongside how to ensure that record keeping and audits are completed correctly including the responsibilities and confidentiality relating to record keeping. Suitable for: This course is ideal for anyone working or has previously worked in a Health and Social Care role where they handle and/or administer medication. Course units: Unit 1: Understand medication Unit 2: Logistical aspects of handling medication Unit 3: Understand how to administer and support individuals to self-administer medication Unit 4: Legislation, guidance and audit processes for medication in health and social care settings You will ideally need to have access to Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Publisher and PowerPoint as you may need to down
