Mental health problems affect around 1 in 10 children and young people. These issues include depression anxiety and conduct disorder and can often be a direct response to occurrences it is important as in their lives. Emotional wellbeing is just as important as a child's mental health, therefore it is important for those working with children and young people to have a good understanding of the concepts, risk factors and the impact of mental health. This course is suitable for anyone who works or spends time with children young people in a paid or voluntary capacity. The course provides a good working knowledge for anyone exposed to children and young people and can be used to support job applications for many vocations including teaching assistants in schools, nursery practitioners and other social work.

What you need to get on

You should have been living in the UK for 3 years by the start of the course. You should be over 19+ and not currently be enrolled on an apprenticeship. Access to a computer with a reliable internet connection An email account that you regularly check You need to pass a short English assessment You will need to demonstrate that you have sufficient time to study the qualification as it is expected that you will achieve within 6-10 weeks.
