The qualification develops learners' knowledge and understanding of a range of mental health issues, including general mental health, stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, dementia and other conditions which may significantly affect the mental health of a person. Learners will be given a thorough grounding in what is meant by mental health terminology, possible causes and triggers of each condition, how each condition can affect the lives of the people living with them, and how conditions may be managed. This qualification is designed to develop knowledge and skills in this subject area. This qualification can be used to update and continue your professional development, (CPD), and to develop knowledge/skills relevant to the occupational specialisation. It is suitable for anyone who works, or is hoping to gain employment, in this field.
What you need to get on
You will need to be aged be 19+ as at 31st August prior to the start of the current academic year. You will also need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent. To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector. If you already have a higher-level qualification in this specialism, it may impact on your eligibility.

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
