This is suitable for a wide range of learners and the aim of the qualification is to develop knowledge and understanding of allergy awareness. This will include the causes of allergies and what to do should an allergic reaction occur. Your studies will include topics such as: Allergens, allergies and intolerances, Food labelling and packaging, Allergy awareness for those who work with adults, Unit 1: Gain a background knowledge behind allergies, allergens and intolerances as well as an understanding of how allergies and intolerances are diagnosed and treated. Unit 2: Investigate different types of food labels and their importance in keeping those with allergies safe. Understand regulations surrounding food labelling and recognise when a label is incorrect. Unit 4: All the information is focussed upon adult health and social care. You will learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions on different parts of the body and how to perform first aid on those who have experienced a severe reaction. Please note: You may only complete one of the Distance Learning Allergy Awareness courses as the first two units for theses qualifications are all exactly the same. What you need to get on

You will need to be aged be 19+ as at 31st August prior to the start of the current academic year. You will also need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent. To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector. If you already have a higher-level qualification in this specialism, it may impact on your eligibility.
