This qualification is aimed at students who wish to progress to higher education and/or pursue a career in the sport and fitness sector Studying this qualification will enable learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world of sport and physical activity. Students will analyse contemporary issues in sport, as well as developing a deeper understanding of the workings of the body. The qualification also offers learners an opportunity to develop transferable skills such as problem-solving, research and communication as part of their learning. This qualification is supported by a range of universities, and taken alongside other qualifications, it can fulfil the entry requirements for a number of higher education courses. The qualification is eligible for UCAS points and carries the same UCAS points as one A-level.
