This Level 2 qualification in Painting and Decorating is aimed at you if you are looking to work in the construction industry specifically as a crafts person in painting and decorating. A painter and decorator has the skills and knowledge to use a range of coverings such as paint and wallpaper to enhance and protect surfaces such as plaster, metal and wood, and plays an important part of any construction team.

What you need to get on

The basic requirement is four GCSEs at grade D and above. If you do not gain grade Cs in maths and English Language you will need to retake them or a Functional Skill at College alongside your main course

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
