What the college says

Business is a far reaching subject that strikes a balance between theoretical and practical work. Why are Apple and Google so successful? What makes a great leader? What factors influence the profits of Tesco? Business covers topics from marketing and advertising, retail and human resources to finance and accounting, by studying businesses in national and international contexts.

What you need to get on

It is not a requirement that you should have studied Business at Key Stage 4 in order to take an A level course in this subject, but if you have studied for the Business BTEC you should have achieved at least a merit. What is more important is that you have a strong interest in Business and want to learn how a business is organised, operates, plans and makes its decisions. A minimum grade of a 5 in English and Maths at GCSE and a good set of results from other GCSE subjects are also required to start this course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
