Business is one of the most useful subjects you can study at college. The average person spends roughly 45 years in employment so having an understanding of the business world is vital. This course provides an insight into how businesses operate; examining those involved in running a business, how they are organised and financed and the importance of effective business communication.The extended diploma is a two-year course. The first year is equivalent to one A level (foundation diploma) and successful completion of the first year will allow progression to year two to complete a total of three A level equivalents graded from pass to distinction*.The course is practical and work-related, where the assessment is based on investigating real life businesses. You will have to research different companies using a variety of methods, such as the internet, or conducting interviews with business owners. This course is delivered as two qualifications, each a year long (usually a foundation diploma in year 1 and the extended diploma in year 2). Students who are 18 years old when they start year 1will therefore be 19 at the start of year 2 and may be subject to fees for the year 2 qualification. All learners will need to successfully complete the year 1 qualification to be able to progress to the year 2 qualification.
