What the college says
The Business Extended Certificate BTEC Is aimed at learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside a combination of other subjects, whether A Level or other BTECS or other applied qualifications such as the OCR Nationals. The BTEC Business course is an applied course based on investigation and research into real businesses. Heavy emphasis is places on work-related learning and developing key transferable skills such as teamwork, creative problem solving and research. The course will allow students to investigate the wealth of local business in Broadstone and surrounding areas - from the small local entrepreneur to the national chains such as B&Q and global organisations like JPMorgan The BTEC Business Extended Certificate is the equivalent in size and value to 1 A Level. Learners will complete 4 Units during a 2 year period. 3 mandatory units and 1 optional units, 1 of which will be an externally set exam. BTEC Business is a respected progression route and is valued by universities, employers and training providers. 37% of businesses prefer to recruit to hold a mix of academic and vocational qualifications or value BTECs equally (CBI Skills survey, 2015). Progression routes offered by BREC Business include studying a degree; apprenticeships or employment. “BTEC courses give you real hands-on experience.
