What the college says
This course is the starting point if you are looking to pursue a career in law but do not have the entry requirements to do a level 3 in law and business. Designed to give you a good understanding of the law and business environment, the course will cover topics ranging from English Legal Systems and Employment Law to Business Finance. This course will give you the initial groundwork to enable you to progress onto level 3 or into employment/apprenticeship. You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career. If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities.
What you need to get on
The course requires you to have 4 GCSEs including both English and maths at grade 3 (D) or above, a 90% attendance rate from your last place of work or study is desirable and one reference from your last place of study or work.
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
