What the college says

The course is student centred. Students will learn through investigation and active involvement. They have a big responsibility for their own learning. Units are taught through ‘learning outcomes’ and each assignment will concentrate on testing & extending the students’ knowledge in one or more of the outcomes. The tutor will act as a learning resource for the students, offering advice & guidance as to how to approach the work. All BTEC Nationals provide transferable knowledge and skills that prepare learners for progression to university. BTEC Nationals provide a vocational context in which learners can develop the knowledge and skills required for particular degree courses, including: reading technical texts, effective writing, analytical skills, creative development, preparation for assessment methods used in degrees. The study of sport particularly encourages the development of skills and behaviours such as teamwork, leadership, performance analysis, resilience, evaluation, analysis and synthesising concepts.
