The BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts (Drama route) is a qualification aimed at those who want to progress to higher education and employment in the performing arts sector, but also teaches skills that are transferable to all professions. The qualification is equivalent in size to one and a half A Levels, but is studied in one option block. This course is fantastic for those who want to develop their performance skills and learn more about the world of theatre. The topics include Naturalism, Greek theatre, Epic Theatre, comedy, physical theatre, children’s theatre and devising. You will learn to adapt your skills for each style and to create a performance from a range of stimuli. This is a performance course so students will be expected to perform in several shows and showcases throughout the year. Students will need to attend extra rehearsals in order to complete their devising work. You will also be expected to perform in the community as this will be part of your assessment. Alongside the practical work you are required to write essays and complete a research journal to build your evidence of work.

What you need to get on

Minimum grade 4 or equivalent in GCSE English. A minimum of a level 4 in GCSE Drama or merit in a vocational course.
