What the college says
n KS5 students have the opportunity to work towards a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business as an option on the A-Level programme of study. BTECs embody a fundamentally learner-centred approach to the curriculum, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied in project-based assessments. They focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education. BTEC National qualifications provide a broad introduction that gives learners transferable knowledge and skills. The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business is designed for students who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing into a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects. It should be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A-Levels. Students study two mandatory units: Developing a Marketing Campaign and Personal and Business Finance, each with a written examination, alongside two optional units that require internally assessed assignments. Additionally, students will have to undertake a week of work experience in year 12.
