BTEC Sport at Level 3 offers learners the knowledge and experience of all aspects involved in Sport today. There are units which focus more on the practical side of sport such as Practical Sports Performance and units which are purely theory based such as Anatomy and Physiology. Overall the course offers a good mix of practical and theory work as well as a range of physical, coursework or exam-based assessment. The course also gives learners the chance to experience officiating, coaching, managing in different sports building on people skills such as communication, listening and speaking in front of groups of people.

What you need to get on

You will require a minimum of 5 GCSE's at grades 4-9 including English and Maths. It is not necessary to have studied a Sport related subject at level 2 although this would be beneficial. Students will spend a lot of time performing in a variety of different sports and so must be physically committed to full engagement, including representing the school as a competitor and an official in a variety of sports.
