What the college says

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Engineering is intended to be an Applied General qualification for post­16 students who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education, and ultimately to employment, possibly in the engineering sector. The qualification is equivalent in size to 1/2 A Level and aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the engineering sector. Students need not necessarily have studied engineering previously, but will have successfully completed a Level 2 programme of learning, with GCSEs or vocational qualifications.

What you need to get on

To study in the Sixth Form, students much achieve the general entry requirements which are a minimum of 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4 or above from a range of subjects including Mathematics and English Language. In addition Grade 4 in at least one science is required.

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
