The course is designed for singers and instrumentalists who enjoy performing and want to develop their skills. The content of the qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure it supports progression to higher education. Employers and professional bodies have also been involved and consulted to confirm the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for learners planning to enter employment directly into the music sector. The programme gives a broad overview of the sector, with a focus on performance, including musical skills development and professional practice.

5 GCSEs or equivalent at 5+, including 4+ in Maths, 5+ in English, and strong performance skills on an instrument or voice

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
