The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Sport looks at the principles and practices within the sport, coaching and fitness industry. This course is equivalent to 2 A levels and involves pupils undertaking 3 externally marked exams in anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and programming and investigating business and sport and the active leisure industry, plus units that are internally marked. The course is mainly theoretical; it analyses many aspects of sport and is delivered through a variety of methods, within the classroom and by using the PE facilities.

What you need to get on

The qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills developed through L2 BTEC Sport. Pupils need to achieve a MERIT at BTEC Sport L2 and/or Grade 4 in English and/or Science Pupils with a particular interest in PE and Sport with 5 GCSE passes grade 4 to 9 can also access the course. Pupils following this course are expected to participate in sport and play an integral part in the school Ludus (Extra Curricular) Programme.
