If your answer is no, then studying business could still be perfect for you! Knowledge of business and business processes can be useful in many different jobs including roles within the administrative and clerical job family, accountancy, banking and finance, retail sales and customer services. It will also be useful if you are thinking about setting up your own business or being self-employed in the future. The BTEC course allows you to gain skills you may not gain by studying business A Level such as interview skills, writing business plans and giving presentations. Most students start Sixth Form with little to no idea what career they want. Studying business leads into many career paths suited to a range of people.

What you need to get on

It is not a requirement that you should have studied Business Studies in year 11 in order to take this course. However, if you have done so, you should achieve a Grade 5 or above in GCSE or a level 2 pass in Enterprise & Marketing before being accepted onto the course. A GCSE grade 5 or above in English and Maths would be preferable. You will need to be able to write fluently in order to apply business theory to case studies. Analysis and evaluation skills are important.
