Course Overview As a member of our in-house production team and a student of WSS, you will study an extensive range of practitioners and working techniques, enabling you to contextualise and innovate both original and pre-existing work. You will learn how to condition the performer’s tool ‘the body’ and engage in a pedagogy of professional training and vocational learning like no other. You will not be restricted by solely one form of performance. You will be exposed to over 13+ styles of theatre and performing arts, enabling you to train as a versatile and experienced professional. Student Profile To enrol on a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts with WSS, a student will have great determination and a strong interest in the life of a performer. A student may wish to expand their competencies in acting, dance, singing or all three. A student will be willing to train as if they were a professional and be encouraged to progress in many areas of performance to extend their versatility. Student case file: Courtney Phillips, spent four years with us, transforming from student to young creative professional,undertaking high intensity training and coaching in both dance styles and technique training programmes. Courtney is now studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Specification Students enrolled on the Performing Arts qualification will study a generic specification that enables the student to select a range of both dance and acting unit

What you need to get on

Typically, seven x 4/5 grade GCSE (old 'C' equivalent) - with one being in English and one in the subject specialism. A minimum of four x 4/5 grades are required. If Maths and/or English are not included in the 4 GCSEs, then re-takes will automatically be included in the timetable.
