Pearson BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology. It is the main qualification as part of a study programme. You will be expected to study English and Maths as part of your study programme. If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 at GCSE (C) you will expected to enrol onto an appropriate English and /or Maths course at GCSE or Functional Skills dependent upon your entry grade and/or initial assessment. Specific aims of the BTEC First Extended Certificate in Information and Creative Technology are to: Allow learners to specialise in Information and Creative Technology or to deepen their understanding through the provision of a broad range of optional specialist units. Provide a comprehensive and challenging programme of study related to Information and Creative Technology, suited to post-16 learners who have the relevant interest and aptitude. Give learners the potential opportunity to progress to employment or to employment in a wide range of job roles across the Information and Creative Technology sector, for example in roles such as software engineer, website content manager, computer animator, helpdesk support, and graphic designer. We reserve the right to change the unit selection.

What you need to get on

If you are aged 16 to 18.- You have achieved minimum of 4 GCSEs at 3 (D) or above OR achieved successfully an appropriate qualification at level 1. You will be expected to hold 3 (D) or above in English and Maths. If you have not yet achieved a grade 4 at GCSE (C) you will expected to enrol onto an appropriate English and/or Maths course at GCSE or Functional Skills dependent upon your entry grade and/or initial assessment.

How you are assessed

Two-year technical qualification with a 45-day industry placement. Equivalent to three A levels.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
