The A level Biology course will follow the OCR Biology A pathway. The specification is divided into topics, each covering different key concepts of biology. Teaching of practical skills is integrated with the theoretical topics and they are assessed through the written papers. The Practical Endorsement will also support the development of practical skills. Course Outline Biology A is split into six teaching modules combined with the Practical Endorsement: Module 1: Development of practical skills in biology Module 2: Foundations in biology Module 3: Exchange and transport Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease Module 5: Communication, homeostasis and energy Module 6: Genetics, evolution and ecosystems What will I learn on this course? This course will enable you to: • use and analyse data; • understand how human, animal and plant systems work; • learn about factors in human health; • gain valuable practical skills (especially analytical techniques); • understand important environmental issues; • discuss current biological issues such as genetic engineering in an authoritative way.
