The aims of the course are to encourage candidates to develop their interest in and enthusiasm for biology, including developing an interest in further study and careers in biology, appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. To develop and demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of How Science Works; develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of biology and how they relate to each other.

What you need to get on

Five 9-5 grades including Maths and English plus Double 6 in GCSE Combined Science or a 6 in GCSE Biology and one other science. 6 in GCSE Mathematics. Students must also undertake continued mathematics study (A Level Mathematics, AS Level Mathematics, Core Mathematics or mathematics study as directed by the science faculty).

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
