This exciting course blends real life work experience with skilled training. You will build on your existing barbering skills and develop your confidence to regularly complete services to the public. You will learn in our on-site salon where we have a regular client base which you can build on with your own clients. The majority of our Level 3 students have paid jobs in the industry by the time they leave. Units you will cover include: - Cutting men's hair to create a variety of looks - Cutting facial hair to create a variety of looks - Wet shaving and facial massage - Design and create patterns in hair - Business promotion and design - Health and safety - Advising and consulting with clients You will complete 30 hours of work experience throughout the course to enhance your skills and awareness of the industry. Support is provided to help approach suitable salons in the local area and you will use a placement journal to record your experiences and comments from your salon trainer. You will also benefit from visits to national shows and hear from expert speakers to enhance your knowledge and skills. You will be expected to attend 100% of college classes, and you will usually be in college three or four days a week. We ask all students to be committed to regular attendance to avoid it impacting the progress of your course, success in your exams and progression to further courses. Please note any part time job commitments must not impact on your studies or classes.

What you need to get on

You will need to have achieved four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English language and maths. You must also have a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Hairdressing or Level 2 in Barbering .

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
