Barbers will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using barbering techniques, style and finish hair, cut facial hair into shape and provide shaving services for men. Barbers must be able to work with all hair types form straight hair to very curly hair. As barbering services are increasing in demand from men who are interested in being well groomed, there has been no better time to get into this fantastic industry.
What you need to get on
Three GCSEs at Grade 3 including maths and English Language, or a Level 1 qualification plus maths and English Language at Level 1.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
