This course is an excellent starting point if you are interested in training to be a barber. It will introduce you to the technical skills and underpinning knowledge needed for a successful career. You will cover: - Cutting men's hair using basic barbering techniques - Cutting men's facial hair to shape using basic techniques - Client consultation - How to shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp - How to promote products and services Our training salon, Solutions, is run as a fully functioning commercial salon offering a full range of professional consultations and treatments. You will have weekly opportunities to gain first-hand experience of working in the salon using top brands such as ASP, Bluebeard and GHD. All of our tutors are highly qualified with excellent industry experience and all work hard to ensure you benefit from this wealth of knowledge. You will also have opportunities to participate in trips to shows and events such as Barber Bash and Barber Connect.

What you need to get on

You will need to achieve four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language, maths and, ideally one science subject.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
