It is to support progression to the next level of English skills. It will provide a learner with a flexible route to developing initial skills in English. The learner can build their confidence in using English and develop their skills in communicating information, participating in discussions, reading and understanding everyday words and texts at Entry 1. The learner can focus on the specific areas of their skills in English which need to be further developed. It provides a stepping stone for progression to the next level of English skills or achievement of a Functional Skills qualification in English.
