The OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma and Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care are work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations and activities. They will introduce you to the health and social care industry and provide a good basis to go on to study the subject at Level 3 or go on to work or apprenticeships in health and social care settings. OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care is a full-time course and is equivalent to four GCSEs grade A*-C. You will study a variety of units four of which are assessed through coursework with another two being examined. OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate is a full time course and is equivalent to two GCSE?s 4-9. You will study for two coursework and two examined units. This smaller course will enable you to study a wider range of supporting GCSE?s. What you need to get on
A reasonably good standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a minimum of four GSCEs at grade 3 (including English Language and Maths) of which only one can be a Level 2 vocational qualification (e.g. BTEC/OCR) at Pass grade or above.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
