What the college says

AS Physics is examined by two written papers at the end of Year 12. Each paper is 1hour 30 minutes and have equal weighting for the overall AS grade. Both papers 1 and 2 assess knowledge across five topics which include measurement and their errors, particles and radiation, waves, mechanics and materials, and electricity. Paper 1 is broken down into each topic and consists of short and long answer questions totalling 70 marks. Paper 2 is broken down into 3 sections where 20 marks is based on practical activities completed over the year, a further 20 marks is on the five topics and 30 marks is of multiple choice questions. Additionally, students are required to carry out a minimum of 6 practicals in Year 12.

5 Grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language plus grade 6 in Science at Higher Tier and a grade 6 in Maths

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
