AS Level French builds on the skills developed at GCSE giving pupils the ability to understand spoken and written French at a higher level, while also providing pupils with the tools to communicate confidently in written and spoken form.

What you need to get on

Minimum grade 6 in GCSE French. General qualification requirements must also be met: GCSE English and Maths at grades 4-9; minimum three GCSEs at grades 6-9, and a further three GCSEs at grades 5-9. Native modern foreign languages are not normally counted. GCSE subject grades may only be counted once.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
