The course focuses on incorporating both physical and human geography disciplines to give wide ranging topic areas, exploring the UK and countries all over the world. Students must complete 4 days of fieldwork over the 2 year A-level course. This may be completed locally or during a residential trip. We have in the past visited FSC centre in Snowdonia and Dale Head in the Lake District. Human Geography: Changing places, population, urban environments, globalisation and global governance. Physical Geography: Water & carbon cycles, cold environments, hot deserts, natural hazards, coastal environments and ecosystems. Geographical Skills: OS map skills, atlas skills, cartographical, graphical, statistical, analytical & field work skills. Geographical Enquiry: Students complete an individual piece of fieldwork and write a 3000-4000 word report about their findings.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including Maths. In addition English Language and Geography at grade 5, are required.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
