What the college says

Ever wondered what it would be like to make your own clothes? Sick of seeing the same fashion hitting the shops and know you could design better? Do you have a natural flair for detail and would love to make your own decorative products? Then A Level Textiles is for you! No prior making or designing experience is required as we will equip you with all the skills and techniques you will need. Working with a wide range of materials and processes, exploring wearable design and decorative surfaces, you will learn how to research, design and produce your own original pieces. Come and be the next Nadine Merabi (a former student no less!).

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 passes (grade 4 or above) at GCSE, including in both English and Maths (not including Level 2 vocational qualifications). Grade 4 in an Art subject at GCSE is beneficial but not required. Drawing and design skills are desirable but will be developed on the course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

What this level means

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?

Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
