A Level Textiles focuses on the exploration of textile processes and materials. It aims to develop creativity, skill and understanding. During the course you will work on set projects encouraging you to experiment with alternative materials, surface pattern, print, free machining and constructed textiles to produce exciting and innovative final pieces. Your practical work will need to be supported by a sketchbook of research, experiments and planning. Your coursework will include written analysis work based on textile artists/fashion/designers.

What you need to get on

You will need to have a minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE to study this course, and at least a grade B in GCSE in Textiles. The written analysis demands a good standard of written English preferably to grade B in GCSE English Language and students must be willing to travel to galleries/exhibitions to support their practical work. You need to have a genuine interest in the subject and be prepared to put in extra time in your study periods.
