What the college says
The course is broad and covers many of the specialist areas of the Art & Design Industry and gives you real life experience in the local art community through work experience. Over the duration of the program, students are encouraged to develop a broad understanding of the subjects while honing their practical skills and creative abilities.Students learn to experiment with materials and ideas, while also developing an understanding of the creative process from initial concept to final presentation.
What you need to get on
3 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D) or a related Level 1 vocational qualification including, English and maths. Equivalence of these qualifications will be considered. Plus, an art portfolio containing recent creative work you have done.
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
