Aims of the course Our Fine Art course follows the OCR examination syllabus giving you opportunity to develop skills through visual expression and communication. You will be supported through the course but encouraged to become independent students, using initiative and imagination. We encourage you to look at artists/designers to develop an understanding of visual language. The emphasis is on developing creativity and creative thinking, allowing opportunities for self-expression and enjoyment. Year 12: An experimental year designed to develop creativity and imagination. You will be given support and individual attention to enable you to make the transition from GCSE to A Level. Experimenting with a wide range of materials and techniques, finding your strengths and interests. Coursework: Skills based workshops to introduce a variety of new skills, techniques and materials. A portfolio that develops from a theme and shows your ability to experiment, investigate and develop ideas. Year 13: Builds on the skills developed in Year 12 applying them to a personal investigation that will enhance your initiative and understanding, allowing more time for in-depth investigation. Coursework: Personal investigation project that is chosen by you and developed over the year, including a ‘personal study’ which is a visual and written investigation that links with and supports your personal investigation. What you need to get on

Grade 4 GCSE in Mathematics and English Language A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 5 and above including grade 6 in the subjects selected for A Level. *To study Further Maths a grade 7 in Mathematics GCSE is required A grade 5 in English is essential for accessing Business Studies, Economics, Government & Politics, Media, Philosophy & Ethics, Psychology and Sociology if you have not studied these subjects at GCSE. A grade 5 in Mathematics is essential for accessing Physics/Biology/Chemistry and also Business Studies, Computing, Economics and Product Design- if you have not studied these subjects at GCSE.
