The study of Art through individual development and theoretical studies provides opportunities for personal expression, imagination, conceptual thinking, developing powers of observation and improving analytical skills. You will be expected to respond to visual stimuli in a range of media and have the opportunity to demonstrate your observation, imagination and creative skills. You will also be given the chance to make a detailed and extended study into an aspect of the visual arts that interests you. This will involve a practical study supported by a written study.What you will do The course aims to encourage and develop your ability to: • Perceive, understand and express concepts and feelings • Record from observation and personal experience • Experiment, innovate and use intuition and imagination • Be critical and analytical as well as research and evaluate the work of other artists • Use initiative and have a sense of 'adventure'. Future prospects: • Architecture and Interior Design • Theatre Design • Product and Graphic Design • Fashion and Textile Design • Interior Design, jewellery design etc. • Provides you with a portfolio for entry to the Foundation Course at Northampton College or direct access onto degree courses • Fine Art • Marketing and advertising • It is also welcomed as a subject where an awareness of aesthetics and fine dexterity skills are needed such as; doctors, dentists (please check with university first).
