A-level Art and Design is a two year linear course which culminates in a 15 hour examination at the end of the two year course. This subject encourages an individual and independent approach. Art and Design remains a very popular option at A-level.

What you need to get on

GCSE grade 6 or above in Art or Photography. OR a Level 2 qualification at Distinction, A grade or equivalent, in an Art related discipline. Where GCSE Art & Design/Photography or a Level 2 qualification in an Art related discipline has not been studied, you must be able to prove your ability is equivalent to GCSE grade 6, by completing a 2-4 page portfolio to show your drawing or photography ability.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
