Studying Physics strengthens quantitative reasoning and problem solving skills that are valuable in areas beyond Physics. The course includes Particles and Quantum Physics and students will develop their understanding further to actually understand what E=mc2 is about. There is also a look at Astrophysics to find out how to estimate the age of the universe and to detect planets.

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs or equivalent, grade 9 - 4, including Maths and English Language. In addition a grade 6 -6 or above in Combined Science or a grade 6 or above in GCSE Physics is required. Due to the Mathematical content, students are required to achieve a minimum grade 6 in GCSE Maths, and students who are not sitting Maths A-level should undertake a Core Maths element in their timetable.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
