AQA's new A Level English Language offers opportunities for you to develop your subject expertise by engaging creatively and critically with a wide range of texts. The two year course comprises of three components, two of which are assessed by a terminal exam at the end and one non-exam assessment in which you will produce a language investigation and a piece of original writing.

What you need to get on

Minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (English and Maths at Grade 4) and preferably Grade B/Grade 5 in the subjects you wish to study.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
