This course builds upon skills acquired at GCSE and fosters a deeper understanding of French culture and language. In the first year students study social and technological change alongside highlights of French-speaking artistic culture, including francophone music and cinema. Students also explore the influence of the past on present-day French-speaking communities. Students will also study a text or a film. In the second year students will learn about political engagement and who wields political power in the French-speaking world. Students will have the opportunity to carry out independent research on an area of their choice. Throughout their studies, they will learn the language in the context of French-speaking countries and the issues and influences which have shaped them.

It is necessary to have at least a Grade 6 at GCSE and a keen interest in developing your understanding of French culture

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
