What the college says
This practical, work-related course will develop your skills and knowledge, and the confidence to progress towards higher level study in the applied sciences. The course is part of the college's Access provision, and many learners progress to a Level 3 Access to HE programme on completion of the course. You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to begin a career in science, covering biology, chemistry and physics, with an emphasis on the work of scientists and technicians.
What you need to get on
You will need:Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language, Maths and Science or a Level 1 Diploma in Science, with Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1All applicants must have an interview and assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
