Our Applied Science Level 2 First Extended Certificate provides a route into continued education in science. This course combines the key areas of Biology, Physics and Chemistry to give you a well rounded practical and theoretical understanding of the Applied Sciences. You will take part in a range of laboratory practicals, developing an understanding of common practices in laboratory settings. You will also have the opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths open to you and find out about how you can pursue various careers in the wide world of science. During the course you will study the following: - Biology, Physics and Chemistry - Skills of carrying out a scientific practical project - Application of science in a science based organisation - Appreciation of scientific skills applied in the workplace - Health and safety in the laboratory - Applications of physical sciences (chemistry and physics) - Human physiology and health - Key skills

What you need to get on

Grade D/3 or higher in GCSE Science. Grade D/3 or higher in either Maths or English GCSE.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
