You will explore the biological principles that underpin medical science and study how the human body functions at a genetic, cellular and tissue level. You�ll gain understanding of how human biology and lifestyle factors interact to affect the health of individuals and populations and explore the many ways that this knowledge can be applied in order to improve diagnostic and health outcomes. You will carry out your own investigation into the effect of antimicrobial agents on the growth of microorganisms and recognise the importance of disease management to modern human society. You will look at scientific information related to health issues and associated initiatives from developments in food nutrition and healthy diets to advances in medical treatments, including stem cell therapy and genetic engineering.

What you need to get on

You must have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 9-4, including Maths and English Language. Additionally, you will need a minimum of a grade 5-5 in combined science or grade 5�s in separate sciences.
