What will I study? OCR Chemistry A develops knowledge and understanding of the different areas of Chemistry. It develops an appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods and also competence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills. It helps students understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. It develops students' interest in further study and careers associated with the subject. Teaching of practical skills is integrated with the theoretical topics and they are assessed through written papers and the Practical Endorsement. The course is made up of six modules : - Module 1 Development of practical skills Module 2 Foundations in Chemistry Module 3 Periodic table and energy Module 4 Core organic Chemistry Module 5 Physical Chemistry and transition elements Module 6 organic Chemistry and analysis

What you need to get on

Five Level 4 GCSEs are required for entry into 6th Form. GCSE Level 5 pass is required in your chosen, or related, subject.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
