No prior knowledge of the subject is required to study Psychology at A Level as this course builds on, but does not depend on, the knowledge, understanding and skills specified for GCSE Psychology. However, it is recommended that students have attained good communication and literacy skills in GCSE English and good reasoning skills in GCSE Science. Psychology is a fascinating yet challenging subject and a very popular A Level and degree choice. This course will require you to construct logically developed discussions and to use scientific evidence to support your opinions and interpretations. You will also extend your understanding of human behaviour and will hone your writing, debating and research skills. In the first year you will study: - Cognitive Psychology (memory) - Child Development - Stress Management - Obedience, Conformity and Abnormality In the second year you will study: - Relationships - Aggression - Psychopathology - The Psychology of the Media, including persuasion and effects on aggression
