Understanding politics and how the government works is vital in a modern world where democracy and democratic values are being challenged in all corners of the world. The rise of populism and support for ‘strong’ leaders often leads to large swathes of people abandoning democratic values or supporting more extreme and radical ideas. Even a cursory understanding of current affairs illustrates this well.

What you need to get on

Students must achieve a minimum of 6 GCSEs Grade 4 or above including English Language and Mathematics at Grade 6 or above. Grade 6 in a Humanities subject (History or Geography) and English Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
