What the college says

Physicists seek to understand the physical universe in order to predict its behaviour. Physics, as a part of science, provides a picture of how the world behaves and how the laws of nature operate: it cannot answer the question why they operate in this way. What are the benefits of taking this course? The OCR A Level Physics course has been developed to follow on from the Additional Double and Triple award GCSE science courses and covers the following topics; Foundations of Physics Forces and Motion Electrons, Waves and Photons The Newtonian World and Astrophysics Particles and Medical Physics Few other subjects offer such a wealth of education and employment possibilities. Teaching and learning methods include formal teaching, group work, a field trip, practical work, discussions and debates, films and videos and student-led presentations. It is helpful to study A level Maths alongside Physics, although this is not essential. Other subjects which combine well with Physics include all sciences and technologies, geography, ICT, English. What could I go on to next? Physics provides a route into many careers and university courses, including engineering, astronomy and aeronautics as well as many less obvious routes such as accountancy and management.
