Physics is the science of everything. It spans the very large (like stars and galaxies) to the very small (like atoms and things which make them up), and everything in between. It is the starting point for engineering and the discoveries made by physicists allow biologists and chemists to do their work. A Level Physics covers a wide range of topics including: Thermal physics, Gas Laws, Gravitational fields, Circular motion, Simple harmonic motion, Astrophysics, Cosmology, Electric fields, Magnetic fields, Nuclear Physics and Medical Physics. The course also involves 12 required practical activities that will give you a practical endorsement upon completion of the A level.

What you need to get on

The most important entry requirement is that you are committed and determined to do well. You need to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, with at least 2 at Grade 5. These must include Maths and English. To study this particular A level you need to achieve Grade 6 in GCSE Sciences and Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
