Physics is the study of the nature and properties of matter and energy. It is a fundamental science that underpins our understanding of everything from the incredibly tiny to the astronomically large. Physics is concerned with fundamental questions such as: How did the Universe begin? What is the Universe made of? What rules govern the behaviour of matter and energy? Modern technology is based on the discoveries and research of physicists. A-Level physics can prepare you for a suite of careers, including research scientist, medicine, engineering, rocket scientist, nuclear technician, nanotechnologist, particle physicist, architect and many more.

What you need to get on

At least 5 GCSE Grades 9 - 4 to include English and Maths; and Grade 6 or above in Physics or Combined Science.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
